An important change in the law for our clients. It has become easier for third-country nationals who do not live in the EU, America or Canada to obtain a residence permit. This change has been in effect since November 3, 2021.
Citizens of EU countries have always had the right to obtain a residence permit based on real estate ownership. For them, everything will remain unchanged. Clarifications will be made on specific situations.
But everyone else still needs to obtain a D visa and open a business and run it for at least a year.
No automatic issuance of a residence permit after purchasing real estate is expected.
Then, after a year, this category of those who have received a residence permit can apply to change the basis for extending the residence permit to “real estate ownership”.
This is new in the law. And this opportunity is already in effect.
IT workers who do not work for the Albanian state will be granted a residence permit after the publication of by-laws, which is expected in the near future. Packages of documents have been developed for them and for pensioners. Pensioners will not have the right to work, their income (pension) must be at least 900 euros per month.
Please do not listen to fake «expert» lawyers, fake translators who order their translations from others. Their activity in a country that is actively striving to join the EU will not last long.
