Durres is the main resort of Albania with world fame

The ancient city with a 2,600-year history is located in a picturesque valley, it was impregnable from the sea because of the rocks. The city has always been a tasty morsel, so it constantly passed from one conqueror to another.

The climate is subtropical. The large and relatively shallow bay warms up well and provides the resort with the highest temperatures in the country in winter and in the off-season and the longest swimming season, from April-May to November. Already at the beginning of June, the water temperature in the bay approaches 30 degrees.

Durres has the largest port on the Adriatic. But for the resort this is not a problem, in the center of Durres there is only a clean passenger port. The oil port is located outside the city, it is on the other side of the cape.
So far, the only airport in Albania, Rinas, is located only 30 km from the city, which makes the holiday comfortable and saves vacation time. The city is only half an hour’s drive from the capital and in the center of the country. Therefore, it is very convenient to explore the entire country from here by public transport, there is no need to rent a car.

The advantages of the beach area of Durres are that the highway does not run along the sea, and the noise of cars does not interfere with enjoying the silence and gentle singing of the waves.

15-kilometer clean sandy beaches with promenades and a gentle entrance to the water go from the city to the south. A large selection of restaurants for every taste, shops, discos, attractions — everything is designed for a great holiday.
It is also important that a new water and sewage treatment system, built with the assistance of the European Union, has been operating for 5 years. Therefore, even runoff from the streets does not pollute the sea.

There are practically no beaches in the city itself, although their development is planned.
The beaches start from the port, and the old beach area, built in the 90s, is not very good for tourist recreation due to small narrow beaches and an abundance of people, the area is heavily built up. But for year-round living, this city area is convenient, life is in full swing here both in summer and winter. From here there is an excellent connection with the city center.

Further to the south there are government beaches, after which the resort area of Shkembi Kavajes begins, promenades and wide spacious beaches. Buses from the bus station will take you to Golem. Further, to the south, from Mali and Robit and to Cerret, it is advisable for you to have a car, or to be a walking enthusiast.

The spacious and promising Cerret area has its own yacht port. And a few kilometers away is the pretty town of Kavaje. The eight-kilometer beaches of Spille are located behind the cape, they are little developed and very beautiful.
The secluded General’s Beach deserves attention, it is worth visiting.

To the north of Durres to Cape Rodonit there are prestigious beaches of Lalzit Beach. They have long been chosen by the British and Qataris.
