Crossing the Albanian border. Customs.

There are no legal restrictions on the import and export of foreign currency; currency in excess of 2,500 US dollars must be declared upon entry.

You are allowed to export previously imported foreign currency during the year, and national currency — no more than 3,000 lek. Up to 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco, up to 1 liter of strong alcoholic beverages and up to 2 liters of wine, up to 250 ml of eau de toilette and up to 50 ml of perfume may be imported duty-free.

The import of weapons, pornographic materials and drugs is strictly prohibited, although customs authorities often «turn a blind eye» to violations of these rules.

A special permit is required to export precious metals, antiques, national costumes of artistic value, historical books and works of art.

The export of antiquities, including stones from archaeological excavations, is prohibited.

Free export of copies of ancient works is permitted and they are sold everywhere.
