Today Albania is a unique country with resources for a great beach holiday on the coast of two seas, as well as ecotourism, rafting along mountain rivers along picturesque canyons, excursion tours to cities with centuries-old traditions and priceless cultural heritage.
The coast of Albania, the length of which is 362 km, is the beautiful sandy beaches of the Adriatic Sea and the picturesque rocky cliffs and pebble beaches of the Ionian Sea. Here everyone will find a suitable place for relaxation, be it beaches with bars and noisy parties or secluded beaches for a quiet family holiday.
Popular resorts on the Adriatic coast are Durres and its beach area (Shkembi Kavajes, Golem, Mali Robit, Cerret), Shengjin, Velipoja, Vlora and small resort villages in the bay of Vlora (Razima, Orikum). Popular resorts on the Ionian coast are Drymades, Yali, Dhermi, Himara, Borsch, Saranda, Ksamil. More detailed information about the resorts:
Shengjin

Shengjin
The most popular resort in the northwest of Albania is located about 60 km from the international airport of Tirana and 40 km from the border of Albania with Montenegro. Wide sandy beaches on the Adriatic coast, shallow sea favorable for holidays with children, clean mountain air, pine groves, new apartment complexes and hotels on the first line, excellent restaurants and taverns — this is what modern Shengjin looks like.
Durres

Durres
The second largest city in Albania with a rich centuries-old history of conquest by Greek colonies, ancient Romans, the Ottoman Empire, as evidenced by the preserved architectural monuments of different eras. The resort area of Durres stretches for kilometers of wide sandy beaches, which are divided into the areas of Shkembi Kavajes, Golem, Mali Robit, Cerret. An endless series of hotels, bars, restaurants on the first line, small groves of coniferous trees, a beautiful warm sea will leave the most pleasant impressions of a holiday on the Adriatic coast of Albania.
Durres is located 33 km from the international airport of Tirana and 300 km from the Italian city of Bari.
Vlora

Vlora
Vlora is located at the confluence of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. Sandy beaches are located in the northwestern part of Vlora, pebble beaches — along the southern part of the city, which connects Vlora with the small resort villages of Razima and Orikum. The picturesque landscapes of the bay of Vlora are rocky cliffs on which cozy hotels are located, azure sea, unforgettable sunrises and dinners in the rays of the setting sun, as well as a magnificent panorama of the largest peninsula of Albania called Karaburun. The Strait of Otranto connects Vlora with the Italian city of Brindisi.
The picturesque coast from Vlora to Saranda was given the name of the Albanian Riviera. Indeed, here at the foot of the high mountains are the best beaches:
- Palasa and Drymades, where you can paraglide from the Llogara mountain pass;
- Yala with endless fun and foam parties;
- Dhermi, where you can admire the picturesque mountain landscape from the beach, and climb up to the Old Town to get acquainted with its historical and cultural heritage;
- Cheparo with small beaches and the serene tranquility of a coastal village, where the inhabitants speak Albanian and Greek, which is typical of the southern regions of Albania;
- Borscht, which is impossible to miss, it is here in the immediate vicinity of the beautiful beaches that the best olive groves of Albania are located, from the fruits of which high-quality olive oil is produced.
The coast of this region is characterized by snow-white pebble and sand beaches, azure crystal clear sea, olive groves, secluded beaches that can be reached by boat, such as the beach of Gjipea. The region is very popular among young people, thanks to its numerous bars with noisy parties. In addition to hotels, there are also campsites where you can rent a tent. On the coast, you can rent catamarans, jet skis, kayaks, boats, etc. We also recommend taking a boat trip along the picturesque coast, where you can explore the caves, as well as relax on the secluded beaches of the Riviera.
Himara

Himara
One of the most popular resorts on the Ionian coast of Albania. The old town is located on a hill in close proximity to the castle of Himara, whose history dates back to the 5th century BC. Modern Himara is located on the coast. The central sandy beach of Spilea stretches for 400 meters along a pedestrian promenade with taverns, bars and restaurants. In the southern part of the city is the sandy beach of Potami, its length is about 1.5 km. Along the beach line there are hotels, restaurants, as well as free parking for cars. The magnificent beaches of Llaman and Livad are located a few kilometers from Himara, surrounded by orange and olive groves.
Saranda

Saranda
Saranda, or “Southern Gate of Albania,” is located on the Ionian coast opposite the Greek island of Corfu. Saranda’s beautiful beaches, as well as the region’s rich historical and cultural heritage, annually attract thousands of tourists from all over Europe. In the center of Saranda, on the embankment, there is a pedestrian zone, along which there are taverns, restaurants, a souvenir fair, and a children’s playground with attractions. The city beach is also located here. To the south of the center, there are many kilometers of beaches, mostly pebble, along which there are many hotels for every taste and budget. The distance from Saranda to Tirana International Airport is about 270 km.
Ksamil

Ksamil
The modern resort village is located 13 km south of Saranda on the road to the Butrint National Park. Ksamil is famous for its archipelago of small islands, which can be reached by boats that leave from the coast. Crystal clear sea, magnificent sandy and pebble beaches, water attractions for children and adults, delicious food in local restaurants and taverns allow Ksamil to remain one of the most popular destinations for beach holidays in Albania for many years.
